# Attendee Roles & Status

Every attendee in EventX has a status that tracks their registration progress, event attendance, and role-based permissions. Understanding these statuses is essential for managing approvals, special roles (Hosts, Speakers, Exhibitors), and attendee lifecycle actions like removal and blocking.

## Getting Started

Start here to understand attendee statuses and role activation:

* [**What Do the Different Attendee Statuses Mean on the People List?**](/knowledge-base/attendee-management/attendee-roles-and-status/attendee-status-on-people-list.md) — Learn about Registration Status (Pending, Registered, N/A), In-Person Attendance, Virtual Attendance, and Suspend/Blocked status.
* [**How Does Attendee Approval Work for In-Person Events?**](/knowledge-base/attendee-management/attendee-roles-and-status/attendee-approval.md) — Set up an approval workflow, review waitlisted registrants, and approve or reject attendees individually or in bulk.
* [**How to Remove Attendees from Your Event's People List?**](/knowledge-base/attendee-management/attendee-roles-and-status/attendee-removal-feature.md) — Remove attendees under Invited or Registered status and understand quota implications.

## Special Role Activation

Manage Host, Speaker, and Exhibitor access:

* [**How to Activate Roles for Hosts, Speakers, and Booth Exhibitors in EventX?**](/knowledge-base/attendee-management/attendee-roles-and-status/activate-role-flow-for-special-roles-host-speaker-booth-exhibitorrepresentative.md) — The complete login flow for special role attendees, including password creation and magic login links.
* [**How to Join an Event as an Exhibitor or Booth Representative?**](/knowledge-base/attendee-management/attendee-roles-and-status/join-an-event-as-exhibitors-booth-representatives.md) — Activate exhibitor roles, understand the difference between Booth Exhibitors and Booth Representatives, and access booth editing tools.

## Related Sections

Attendee roles and statuses connect closely with these areas:

* [**People List & Fields**](/knowledge-base/attendee-management/people-list-and-fields.md) — View, filter, and sort attendees by status on the People List.
* [**Managing Attendees**](/knowledge-base/attendee-management/managing-attendees.md) — Edit profiles, block attendees, and manage attendee access.

## Common Questions

* **Why are my imported Hosts and Speakers showing as "Pending"?** — Special role attendees must activate their role and complete the registration form before moving to Registered status. See [Attendee Status](/knowledge-base/attendee-management/attendee-roles-and-status/attendee-status-on-people-list.md#remarks).
* **Can I approve attendees in bulk?** — Yes, filter waitlisted attendees by status, select all, and use the Approval Action to approve or reject in bulk. See [Attendee Approval](/knowledge-base/attendee-management/attendee-roles-and-status/attendee-approval.md#method-2-bulk-approval).
* **Do rejected paid attendees get automatically refunded?** — No. Refunds must be handled manually through your payment processor. See [Attendee Approval FAQs](/knowledge-base/attendee-management/attendee-roles-and-status/attendee-approval.md#frequently-asked-questions).
