# Zebra Printer Setup Guide

**Objective:** Configure your router, iPad, Zebra printer, and EventX Check-in app for onsite badge printing.

## Prerequisites

* Zebra printer (ZD620 or ZD420, 203dpi)
* iPad or tablet
* Router with Ethernet cable
* Badge stock with black timing marks
* EventX portal account
* Wi-Fi: 2.4GHz only, 50 Mbps recommended

## Hardware Setup

1. **Power on the router.** Connect power and press the power button.
2. **Set up the iPad.** Power on and complete setup.
3. **Connect iPad to the router's Wi-Fi.** Tap **Settings** > **Wi-Fi**, select the router's network. Credentials on router label.
   * **Warning:** Any other network breaks iPad-printer communication.
4. **Verify internet access.** Open Safari and load a webpage.
5. **Power on the printer.** Connect power and press the power button on top until indicators light up.
6. **Connect printer to router.** Plug Ethernet cable into a LAN port on the router and the other end into the printer.\

7. **Open the printer.** Pull side release latches, lift cover.\

8. **Adjust the media sensor.** Slide yellow sensor to the left. Align to detect only the black timing mark (avoid the lanyard hole).\

9. **Load the badge stock.**
   * Feed **black-line edge** into the rear slot first.
   * **Black mark must face down** (branded side up).\

   * Expand media guide hangers to stock width.
   * Run stock under hangers, then close printer.\

   * **Ensure stock is on the roller before closing.**

## Printer Configuration

1. **Find the printer's IP** via any method:
   * **Check-in App** (printer icon > device list)\

   * **Router client page** (login and locate printer IP)\

   * **Printer screen** (model-dependent)
2. **Open printer settings.** Enter IP in a browser. Default login: **admin** / **1234**.
3. **Confirm status is READY.** Config changes apply only when Ready. ![](/files/1pHrSUpac80p1B4kW6rL)
4. **Set media configuration:**
   * **MEDIA TYPE:** NON-CONTINUOUS
   * **SENSOR TYPE:** MARK
   * **SENSOR METHOD:** REFLECTIVE\

   * Click **Submit Changes**.\

5. **Persist the configuration.** Click **Save Current Configuration** — otherwise, settings reset on power cycle.\

## Printer Calibration

1. **Exit pause mode.** Press **Pause** on the front panel.\

2. **Calibrate the printer.** Hold **Pause + Cancel** for 2 seconds. Printer feeds badges to detect the black mark. Wait for a **green** indicator.\

   * First-time setup only.

## App Setup

2. **Open the app** on the iPad.
3. **Log in.** On desktop, go to **In-person Check-in > Tutorial**. Scan the QR code with iPad. ![](/files/feawjRbl2SbDVDmY2OPl)
   * Re-scan the QR code to refresh data on re-login.
   * Same credentials work across multiple devices.
4. **Download the attendee list.** Wait for data to load.
5. **Open printer settings.** Tap **printer icon** (top-right).
6. **Connect to printer.** Toggle **Badge Printing** on. Wait for the printer to appear, then tap to connect.
7. **Test print.** Check in an attendee (search, scan QR, or register walk-in).

## Troubleshooting

### Two Badges Printed Out

* Recalibrate: press **Pause + Cancel**.\

### Printer Not Working (Red Lights)

* **Factory reset:**
  * Click **Cancel All Format** and **Reset Printer**.
  * Wait \~1 minute for restart.
  * Reapply settings: **MEDIA TYPE: NON-CONTINUOUS**, **SENSOR TYPE: MARK**, **SENSOR METHOD: REFLECTIVE**.\

### Network Lights Red

1. Check router connection.
2. Reset printer network:
   * Turn printer **OFF**
   * Hold **Pause + Cancel** and turn printer **ON**
   * Hold **Pause + Cancel** until indicator turns **green**\

Once printing is completed, EventX will conduct a test print and provide photos and a video of the final badge production.
