# How to Change the API Host in the Check-in App

## Objective

Connect the EventX Check-in App to the correct API host before scanning an event QR code.

## Prerequisites

* EventX Check-in App version **6.2.1** or later.
* The API host domain provided by EventX Support or your Private Cloud administrator.

## Steps

1. Open the EventX Check-in App.
2. Select **Change Host** on the landing page.

3. Select **EventX Main Server** to use the default EventX API host.

4. Select **Custom Host** to connect to a Private Cloud API host.
5. Enter the custom API host domain.

6. Select **Save**.
7. Scan the event QR code.
8. After login, check the dashboard device information if support needs to confirm the current custom host.
9. Confirm that the custom API host appears under the device ID. The API host is shown only when **Custom Host** is used.

## Notes

* Enter the domain only, for example `api.example.com`. Do not enter `https://`, a port, a path, a query, or a fragment. The app uses HTTPS automatically.

### Q: When would I need to change the API host?

**A:** Only for Private Cloud deployments where EventX is hosted on a custom domain. Standard EventX customers should not need this and can skip it entirely.

### Q: What version of the Check-in App is required?

**A:** Version 6.2.1 or later. If you don't see the "Change Host" button, update the app from the App Store.
